Areim’s continued growth with more funds, more geographic markets, and with a clear focus on investments in Finland, means that Areim is now looking for a Controller who will take overall responsibility for the finance function in Finland.

Controller – responsibilities

This position is new, and you will be responsible for all financing matters linked to Areim’s fund operations in Finland, including analyzing and reporting the fund’s investments, lead and be the contact person for the accounting firm, and supporting the investment team with the financial and tax related aspects during transactions.

The role is business-oriented, you will work closely to the investment and asset management team and have a close contact with the Fund controllers in Sweden, to whom you will report to for the Finnish investments and companies.

• Responsible for reporting the fund’s investments in Finland to Fund controllers and Fund managers in Sweden, to investors and banks.
• Responsible for, and together with asset management, follow-up and analyzing the results and projects in Finland.
• Responsible for, and analysis of, the Finnish investments from a finance perspective and participate in the fund’s liquidity forecasts.
• Provide support to fund managers, and asset managers in financial and tax matters.
• Responsible for obtaining consultants performing financial and tax due diligence and structuring.
• Lead, and be a contact person for, the accounting firm, auditors, valuators and other cooperation partners in Finland.
• Lead the budget work in Finland (which is part of the business plan work led by the fund manager).
• Coordinate and overview the process for annual reports, income declarations and property declarations in Finland.
• Support the transaction team and the transaction controller during acquisitions and divestments. Perform due diligence of the companies, review the balance sheet, annual reports and the pro forma.

Controller – requirements

• M.Sc. in Business Administration, preferably with a specialization in accounting or finance.
• Approx. 3-5 years relevant experience (e.g. Big 4 or financial role in real estate sector).
• Accounting background and knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience from real estate industry or fund operations is an advantage.
• As a person you are professional, independent and able to take full responsibility for accounting in Finland.
• Structured, organized and can prioritize work effectively, keeping to deadlines.
